Wellness

Our mission at BAK9 is to treat the whole dog not just his bad behaviors. We take a holistic approach to treating allergies, anxiety, stress, and illness through structured exercises, establishing rules, applying essential oils, muscle testing for the cause, and feeding a proper diet.

Structured Exercises

Regular structured walks = your dog will learn to follow the Pack Leader (you), relieving your dog of the stress of leadership. Power Walks w/ a Backpack are a great way to drain excess energy, give your dominant/high-energy dog a job and help fulfill his needs. Bicycle rides giving high-energy dogs a chance to "run it out" and help anxious dogs build confidence. Treadmills (coming soon!) are another useful tool that many dog owners already have access to. We can teach you how to train your dog to confidently exercise on the treadmill.

Establishing Rules

Dogs thrive on structure and boundaries. When rules are absent, dominant dogs naturally become the leader and take over while submissive dogs become anxious and overwhelmed with the responsibility of leadership. Both scenarios create annoying and many times destructive behaviors. What many dog owners perceive as stubbornness or hyperactivity is really dominance and/or anxiety overblown! Establishing rules, boundaries and limitations in the home and in public will resolve or prevent these bad behaviors.

Holistic Wellness

On occasion, we will use essential oils (primarily from DoTerra and Young Living) aromatically and topically to address many ailments; be they physical, mental, or emotional. To determine the cause of these ailments we employ muscle testing and energy work. Energy Work is a combination of muscle testing and reprogramming the brain to respond normally to stimuli. It's similar to kinesiology, like when the doctor asks you to hold your arm up while he pushes down testing your muscles' response to resistance. This technique is widely used in the medical field by physicians, chiropractors, and physical therapists to determine physical, physiological, and emotional ailments. I use it on myself, my family, and my clients' dogs to discover any hidden issues that might be the cause of illnesses and problem behaviors.

Nutrition

For optimum health and wellness, feed a RAW diet. For more information, visit Wasatch Canine Camp. For those on a budget, a good alternative is to review the ingredients in your dog's food. To look up your dog's food by name, visit: Dog Food Advisor. If there are any "grain" ingredients, gradually switch to a grain-free food. We feed Nature's Domain from Costco.
